Epidemiological Disease Pattern Analysis

Infectious Disease Surveillance and Outbreak Investigation

Interns will analyze epidemiological data to identify disease clusters, track transmission patterns, and investigate outbreaks using statistical methods and GIS mapping. They will work with real or simulated surveillance datasets to determine outbreak sources, estimate basic reproduction numbers, and recommend public health interventions.

Chronic Disease Burden and Risk Factor Analysis

Interns will conduct comprehensive analyses of chronic disease patterns across different populations, examining prevalence, incidence, and mortality trends in relation to environmental and behavioral risk factors. They will utilize cohort and case-control study designs to identify associations and develop evidence-based prevention strategies.

Spatial Epidemiology and Disease Mapping

Interns will learn to visualize and analyze geographic disease distribution patterns using GIS software and spatial statistical techniques to identify health disparities and environmental determinants. They will create disease maps, conduct cluster analysis, and investigate how location-based factors influence disease occurrence.

Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety Monitoring

Interns will examine patterns of medication use and adverse drug events within populations using administrative health databases and pharmacovigilance systems. They will conduct signal detection studies, evaluate real-world drug effectiveness, and assess medication-related disease patterns.

Environmental and Occupational Disease Epidemiology

Interns will investigate disease patterns related to environmental exposures and workplace hazards by analyzing exposure data, health outcomes, and epidemiological evidence. They will assess dose-response relationships, evaluate control measures, and contribute to environmental health risk assessments.
